Identifying A Problem

In order to design and create an app that is both useful and needed I need to first identify a problem. This is essential as it will ensure that my app has a clear purpose and addresses a real need.

This app would address the need for a balanced approach to mental and physical well-being by mixing relaxation and activity. The app would encourage offline mindfulness. A major focus for the app would be the encouragement and set up for creating a ‘mindful refuge’ at home. This approach supports mental well-being and is currently underdeveloped in most mindfulness apps, including Headspace. This solution would offer a fresh take on mindfulness in an accessible and supportive way.

Project Idea

With feedback taken on board I have new ideas for the direction of my major project. At this stage it's important to have a concept down as this will help me with where I need to research. Ideas might still change and alter along the way, but for now it's important to have a clear visual of what I want my project to be.

Without focusing as much on mental health, I think I want to weigh in more on achieving mindfulness. From brief research I was able to find that mindfulness is about reconnecting with our bodies. Paying more attention to the present moment, noticing the world around you, can improve your mental wellbeing. Ultimately, taking a break to relax, enjoy and notice.

Concept Overview

The app would aim to blend mindfulness, mental wellbeing, and physical activity. Albiet this idea would be a digital product, I want to try and reduce the reliance on digital devices in times of stress or exhaustion. It's good to take a break. The app would provide helpful, meaningful suggestions and track a users progress.

The core idea is to help users create personalised, balanced routines that support mental and physical wellbeing, whether indoors or outdoors, while also integrating a sense of home-based relaxation through smart home features.
